Erin Gavaghan joins CCPA as an executive arts manager who has strong experience in strategic & financial management, fundraising, human resources, and producing and project management supported by a master’s degree in Art Policy and Management from Birkbeck College.
She has worked across various artforms of the cultural industries, including contemporary art, dance, theatre, comedy, cabaret, and music. She is passionate about creating and supporting innovative and inclusive artistic projects that challenge stereotypes and inspire social change.
Erin has been Executive Director and joint CEO of Clean Break since October 2018, sharing leadership of a team of passionate professionals who work in theatre to transform the lives of women at risk and with lived experience of the criminal justice system. She is proud of being part of placing inclusion centrally in the work of the company, alongside embracing a trauma-informed approach; and of the projects and performance of the company through tough pandemic periods and beyond.
Previously at Siobhan Davies Dance, a leading contemporary dance company working in gallery and museum spaces across the UK and Europe, she held several roles; most recently as Executive Director (from 2014). At Siobhan Davies Dance she led the international project Dancing Museums, completed a £250k capital refurbishment of the RIBA award winning studios.
Prior to that, she was the General Manager of Soho Theatre (2008-2012), having also followed a path of progression from Front of House Manager (2005-2007) and Deputy General Manager (2007-2008). Since moving to London from Canada in 2000, Erin has also worked at the Royal Albert Hall as the Stewards Administrator and Natural History Museum managing catering services.
Erin studied English Literature and Theatre at the University of Victoria (Canada) achieving her degree in 1999. She has a passion for life-long learning.
