Emma Kirkland

Development Officer

Emma has a talent for bringing order into any space, infusing personality and workability into fundraising environments. Her confident and approachable style allows her to work with a diverse donor base to find individual solutions to giving and positive results. Her expertise and passion for philanthropy is enhanced with professional skills gained through her fundraising and management backgrounds. This particular skill set provides her with the capacity to lead the CCPA team.

Emma has over a decade of experience in the development of specializing in major giving and fundraising events. Emma has had two previous successful careers – she worked in the financial industry, specializing in public practice, construction, and corporate accounting. She has run her own business for 10 years in the Professional Organizing industry where she lead a team of 3 employees and worked with medium size businesses in Vancouver to organize their office’s systems.

Emma is a member of the National Association of Professional Fundraisers (AFP) and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP). She has a diploma from Vancouver Island University in Event Planning and also in Finance from British Columbia Institute of Technology. In addition to studying to be a Certified General Accountant, through the Certified General Accounting Association (CGA), Emma is a Certified Professional Organizer through the Professional Organizers in Canada and is a member with the National Association of Professional Organizers (USA).

In her personal time, Emma volunteers regularly with Volunteer Victoria, who inspire and raise new generations of volunteers; provides training and expertise to volunteer-led organizations, groups, and projects; and creates opportunities that do not exist anywhere else. In 2017 she stepped on the board as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and the Committee Chair of Development. In the past, her volunteer roles have been with the Festival Society of Greater Victoria as a board member and with Dress for Success Vancouver, a not-for-profit organization that promotes the financial independence of women in the Lower Mainland. She created the annual Fall Fashion Clear out Event. In 2010, Emma stepped into a more involved role as Committee Chair and Event Planner for the annual fundraising event IMPACT: An Event for Change. She has also joined the Board of Directors as Director of Finance (Treasurer).
