Cindy Block

Physical Theatre

Cindy Block is a veteran actor of the Canadian stage who now spends most of her time teaching movement, voice, collective creation, and storytelling. Her research includes the application of authentic movement to writing and performance, and her pedagogical interest is in the synthesis of physical and vocal training for performance. She is an Embodied Practice® Certified Teacher, and holds an MFA in Acting and a Voice Teaching Diploma. She has taught for George Brown Theatre School; University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies; the Humber College School of Comedy; the Centre for Indigenous Theatre; and York University. She is a core faculty member of the Moving Voice Institute (formerly the National Voice Intensive) and is currently on faculty of the VanArts Acting for Media program and the University of Victoria.
