Mezzo Soprano Rebecca Hass is an active singer, actor,vocal teacher, freelance writer, radio documentary creator, broadcaster and life and performance coach. As a performer she has had a widely varied career, appearing across Canada with almost every opera company and numerous symphonies as a principal performer in operas and concerts by composers from Mozart to Wagner. A swing in the Toronto Cast of Phantom of the Opera, Rebecca has been a featured music theatre performer with the Belfry Theatre and Theatre Skam. Self-produced works have included a one-woman show called Wanna Sing a Showtune and most recently her piece His Kiss was featured at the Spark Festival, Belfry Theatre and The Ring in 10 for Theatre Skam’s Bike Ride which was voted audience favourite in 2014. As a Certified Creative Living Coach, Rebecca has worked extensively with up and coming performing artists in opera and music theatre at Opera Nuova, St. Andrews Opera Workshop, Calgary Opera and Pacific Opera. She offers tools in goal setting and ways to effectively meet the challenges of making a living and a life, as an artist. She is also in demand as a vocal teacher and dramatic coach and is a guest often at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, University of Victoria Voice Department and Opera Nuova. Rebecca is a regular writer and guest host of Saturday Afternoon at the Opera on CBC Radio 2 and can be heard on Radio One as well with documentaries and personal essays that have been featured on The Sunday Edition, North by North West, and Tapestry. An avid storyteller, Rebecca lives in Victoria BC where she juggles her many creative pursuits and continues to make time to work with singing performers on the craft of strong storytelling through voice.
