Alumni Residency

The Canadian College of Performing Arts Alumni Residency, provided by the Canadian Heritage Arts Society, aims to provide alumni of the College with creation and development opportunities for works in progress while providing unique performing arts engagement opportunities with the Greater Victoria community.

The goal is to offer support at integral stages of development for original works or re-imaginings of existing work. These works may focus on specific performing arts disciplines or be multidisciplinary in nature. The artistic aim is to support the chosen artistic project at its current stage and support it to the next level of development. Applicants are asked to provide clear and concise plans of what they plan to achieve during this phase of development.

Goals
  • Foster artistic excellence amongst College alumni.
  • Foster growth and shared learning between established and emerging alumni.
  • Support new or reimagined theatrical works that add the voices of CCPA graduates to the Canadian theatre landscape.
  • Preserve and promote arts and culture and increase public appreciation of the performing arts in Victoria, BC through public performances and education.

The College will provide support for each applicant for two projects: 1) artistic and 2) community engagement. For each project, the College will provide in-kind resources such as space for creation, rehearsals and showings, as well as in-house dramaturgical support, marketing support (with expenses up to $250), and a cash investment up to $10,000. Community engagement may take the form of educational workshops, complimentary public performances, readings, or other form of proposed community outreach. The College is looking for unique opportunities that are conscious of the location the projects are set in.
