Christopher Weddell

A graduate of the Playhouse Acting School, Christopher has played on stages in Europe and Canada. As a founding member and past Artistic Associate of Bard On The Beach, he has played dozens of Shakespearean roles. Favourites include Holofernes in Love’s Labours Lost (Bard On The Beach), Prospero in The Tempest (Bard On The Beach), Dr. Chasuble in The Importance Of Being Earnest (WCT/Persephone), and Selsdon in Noises Off (WCT/Chemainus). Christo­pher has directed several productions, including Waiting For Godot (Kaspar Theatre, Prague) and the Jessie-nominated Richard II (Bard On The Beach). Most recently, he directed the Canadian premiere of Arden Of Faversham (Artist’s Collective Theatre). Weddell has written several plays, including a hit adaptation of Gulliver’s Travels for Victoria’s Kaleidoscope Theatre. His new play, The Gist Of It All, was be work-shopped at ACT in 2017. In 2016, Christopher was be seen as Dr. Bradman in the WCT/Thousand Islands Playhouse production of Blithe Spirit. Christopher is a past recipient of the Edmund Kean Sword Award from the Bard On The Beach Shakespeare Festival.

Weddell has taught Acting & Playwriting at the Canadian College of Performing Arts since 2000.
