Where and When
The Canadian College of Performing Arts conducts auditions in major cities across Canada in February or March of each year. Audition videos are accepted until May 1st for admission in September. An audition calendar is posted in December of each year.

Outline
The Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA) offers two intensive certificate programs of study in acting (stage and screen), voice, dance, musical theatre, and career management. Year I leads to the Performing Arts Certificate. Graduates of this program may be accepted for Year II, which leads to the Enriched Performing Arts Program Certificate. Graduates of the Enriched Program have experienced a 100% Employment rate.

Alumni of these programs have garnered major contracts in the United States, London, Toronto, Asia and across Canada. The programs involve students and faculty from across the nation.

Do I need to pre-register?
Yes please. You must arrive half an hour before posted times to complete forms (unregistered auditioners will be allowed in, but pre-registering is advantageous).
To register:
1. Contact the college to confirm your audition location (250-595-9970, admin@ccpacanada.com).
2. Provide us with your name, phone number and e-mail address.

What do I need to bring?
Bring your resumé; photo; the application form; an application fee of $40.00; a transcript of grades from the educational institution last attended; dance shoes and sheet music.

What will I be doing at the audition?
The College Principals conduct multi-disciplinary auditions. Come prepared to participate in dance or movement routines, to sing and to act. Wear comfortable clothing. If you are a dancer, wear your dance attire. An interview will also be conducted.

Do I need to have anything prepared?
Everyone auditioning for the College will need two contrasting 2-minute monologues (an improvisation subject will be given to you if you do not have monologues prepared). Also be prepared to sing a solo. (Be sure to bring sheet music for your own solo, for our accompanist.) Inexperienced singers may sing "Tomorrow" from Annie, in a group. The dance audition is conducted in a group.

How long will this take?
Allow at least 3 hours for the whole process. Some people may be asked to return for a call-back or interview.

How do I apply by video?
Video auditions should not exceed 8 minutes in length and must contain the following:

1. Introduction of yourself
2. A brief outline of your training and career goals
3. A comment on why you think CCPA would be good for you
4. Two short (2-minute) contrasting monologues
5. Two songs, one up-tempo and one ballad song (first verse and chorus)
6. Dance variations showing the different styles of dance you are able to do.

You must also submit a photo, resumé, transcript of grades and an application fee of $40.00. Video auditions must be received by CCPA no later than May 1, 2010. It is advantageous to submit your audition video before the deadline.

Contest Guidelines:

The New Horizons Entrance Scholarship Contest closes March 15, 2010. The scholarship prize must be redeemed for 2010-2011 College year and is applied directly towards tuition of the prize winner. Only one prize to be given.

The Contest is open to Canadian and international applicants and judging is provided by CCPA Audition Directors. Judging is based on most promising overall performance at CCPA auditions, in the disciplines of singing, acting and dancing.

Audition performances should reflect requirements for entry to CCPA. (see above for audition requirements). Video submissions will also be considered for the scholarship contest if received on, or before, March 15.
