Enriched Performing Arts Diploma

This program has been approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training.

The two-year Enriched Performing Arts Diploma Program offers advanced instruction in the performing arts (acting, singing, dancing) plus a focus on career development with direct links to opportunities in the Theatre, Recording and Film Industries. Training is offered at professional standards.

The second year of this program includes a mentorship in creating new works. Classes are rigorous and intensive and comprise the full complement of disciplines required for a successful, enduring career on stage or screen.  The Director of Education and Programming, along with the faculty, will work with the students enrolled in the Enriched Performing Arts Program to help them reach their career goals. Graduating students may be invited to collaborate with faculty to participate in a “Graduate Showcase” where scenes and songs will be performed for film/TV agents and theatre directors.  Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Diploma in Enriched Performing Arts.

The program is intent on introducing the students to:

  • A complete understanding of the nature of a career in theatre;
  • The physical rigours required in rehearsal and performance;
  • The variety of skills which are most beneficial to a long and successful career;
  • The level of skills required to garner professional contracts; an understanding of the business, i.e., agents, unions, taxes, contracts, resumes;
  • The means of developing the individual’s unique talents in order that they might reach their goals and make the best choices for their continued studies and career.

Throughout the two-year program, students are required to take a full complement of classes in an individualised curriculum designed to match and challenge the student’s expertise in each discipline.

CCPA values and emphasises the uniqueness and individuality of each student in the program. Students are encouraged to develop their diverse attributes thereby becoming a unique, versatile and confident performer with a broad spectrum of opportunities. This is accomplished by devoting individual attention to each student’s development and career goals in an environment of very small, specialised classes. Total enrollment for the Enriched Performing Arts Diploma program in the College is approximately 35 students per year. CCPA believes it is the combination of individual attention; expertise offered by working professionals; and direct contact with the job market that has resulted in the extraordinary success of its alumni.

Students are very carefully selected for their personal drive, talent, ability to work hard and aptitude for success. Through fundraising, bursaries, scholarships and government grants, the Canadian Heritage Arts Society supports each successful Canadian applicant by covering up to half of the actual cost to deliver its training programs, through its fund-raising.
