Director of Education & Programming Update

Dear members of the extended CCPA community,

I am writing today to notify all the College’s stakeholders that Heather Burns, the Director of Education & Programming, has tendered her resignation and will be departing her position effective January 31, 2021.

Heather has been a highly respected, multi-talented leader at the College for ten years, and through her teaching and expert guidance of the students and faculty, hundreds of aspiring artists have developed their skills and launched successful careers in the performing arts. As the Managing Artistic Director, I have particularly valued Heather’s knowledge, insight and support over the last two and a half years, and will miss what has been a very effective and productive leadership team.

Heather wanted to share the following statement to accompany this announcement:

I am very grateful for the 10 years I have spent on the administrative and leadership team at CCPA.  I am proud of what has been accomplished and how the College has grown in that time.  I now look forward to time and space to explore other avenues and endeavors.

The Board of Directors is also grateful for Heather’s many years of dedication, and her steadfast commitment to excellence. As the College welcomes back students to in-person learning, in a facility and program that has seen significant shifts to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board and staff sincerely appreciate that Heather will continue as Director of Education & Programming through this term in support of a thoughtful transition of her position.

Although Heather will leave her full-time, permanent position at the end of January, she will continue as the “Company C” Studio Ensemble Manager through to the end of their program and graduation in February 2021.

In the coming days we will be announcing details of the national search to secure Heather’s replacement. I’m sure you will all join me in thanking her for her dedicated service to CCPA and in wishing her the best of success in all future endeavors. In the coming months we will work to find a safe way for the CCPA community to come together, thank her, and wish her well with a proper send-off prior to her departure.
